AMS2100 controller failed (W01601), different revision

Question asked by Sasa Markovic on Apr 20, 2017

Hi there

I have some old AMS2100 Hitachi FC storage and it has one failed controller unit

This wonderful email caused sysadmin oncall to wake me up at 5.30

04/20/2017 03:58:59 00 W01601 CTL alarm(CTL-1)                                                                      :CTL   /CTRC

04/20/2017 03:58:59 00 HH7501 Backend link error was detected(CTL-1)

04/20/2017 03:58:36 00 W01601 CTL alarm(CTL-1)                                                                      :CTL   /CTRC

04/20/2017 03:58:36 00 H06D01 [DCTL]The PCI root complex error was detected[E_IRQ6](CTL-1)

I have device manager, and it can not connect to array, so I can not see controllers to confirm that it is detached, but I can connect to IP of the controller itself (the working one), and see that other controller is "simply red".

I asked onsite hands to take a picture of the controllers, and see alarm lED being red, and I guess controller unit is due to be replaced soon.

Question is

What happens if I can get only Controller unit with same part number, but different revision?

Did someone already had that situation?

will it boot ok and sinc with existing one?

Thanks

S
