The new VSP F400, VSP F600 and VSP F800 feature high performance all-flash controllers designed for random read IOPS up to 1.4 million, consistent response times less than a millisecond and sustained read throughput up to 24 gigabytes per second. Slide the controller out, spin it around and you’ll find call-outs front and back illustrating its blade architecture, redundant components, hot-swap modules, flash backup for cache, high-speed ports. VSP F series is powered by multi-threaded SVOS, multi-core Intel processors designed to accelerate performance and increase data integrity.

The VSP F series is based on the patented Hitachi FMD DC2 flash module. Up to 6.4TB of flash is packed into this module with its own capacitor backup. The magic is in the advanced embedded multicore flash controller that increases the performance of multilayer cell (MLC) flash that exceeds solid state disks. Its inline compression offload engine and enhanced flash translation layer deliver up to 80% data reduction (typically 2:1) at 10 times the speed of software-based compression.

Unlike many all-flash arrays, VSP F series is a unified, multi-protocol storage system. High-performance network attached storage with deduplication non-disruptively reduces required storage capacity by up to 90% with the power to handle large, mixed-workload environments.

Not visible in the model of course is Hitachi SVOS, engineered to accelerate the I/O path for access to flash devices. The result is a flash-accelerated operating system that produces significantly improved I/O processing, higher multi-threading support and faster internal data movement. It also reduces response times considerably. These changes combine to triple the system performance from the operating system alone.


Unlike many all-flash arrays, you can see the VSP F series was purpose-built for flash. These systems are not commodity servers with commodity solid state media and open source operating systems. Hitachi has engineered for performance with the intelligence to reduce overhead and maintain the data integrity and reliability that has earned its quality reputation.
