Today Hitachi Data Systems announces support for Kubernetes container cluster orchestration on Hitachi Unified Compute Platform.
Hitachi has introduced community validated support for Kubernetes orchestration on Hitachi Unified Compute Platform (UCP) converged infrastructure systems, enabling developers and administrators to orchestrate and manage container-based applications. The trend toward containerized workloads is rapidly changing the way applications are developed and deployed in the data center. UCP with Kubernetes is an enterprise platform to quickly and more efficiently develop new and augment existing business applications.
UCP simplifies data center infrastructure deployment by integrating compute, storage and network resources and automating the tasks associated with provisioning and managing these resources with UCP Director. Kubernetes running on UCP adds another dimension to more efficient and agile infrastructure by enabling the faster creation and management of containerized clusters for developers to build applications that are portable, lightweight, secure and more easily deployed. Containerized applications can be deployed on UCP alongside traditional virtualized and bare metal workloads, enabling a greater level of flexibility and better utilization of infrastructure resources.
In addition to ease of development and rapid application deployment, a UCP with Kubernetes orchestration also enables site to site replication of containerized workloads. With UCP’s data protection capabilities, a Kubernetes ecosystem can be fully redundant in the UCP system, protecting mission critical workloads and applications.
