An early think on where HDS/Hitachi are going for Big Data this is part 1 of 2.
Michael, I have not seen these before so Great Use for the Community !
Thanks man! I appreciate the kind words. Hopefully, we'll get more of this kind think peppered throughout the Community. Check out some of our open source engagement in the Innovation Center.
Really very good, what are the themes that you see from our Global customers possibly leading thoughts ?
Great question! There are many and I think it depends on the sector to some extent.
For example if we are talking about our Converged Infrastructure ideals like UCP we found that many of the organizations are in various states of readiness to consume technology in this way. Further, leading edge customers are contemplating the merger of their Server and Storage teams as a first step, but are left with additional concerns about say purchasing departments.
Another trend was one that I've talked about on my question/discussion called If memory based storage becomes the dominate type for primary function and performance what kind of interconnect is required?. In this discussion thread we talk about advanced users really think about a different content/data acquisition pattern where bulk content and metadata are split and persisted in different locations. Once metadata and bulk content have settled these users on the bleeding edge want to then drive users to perform the super majority of their analysis on the metadata and not the bulk content.
There are many more and our annual customer study provides great insight.
Sara Gardner we look forward to your perspective on this topic based on your recent blog post here
