Welcome!

One of the key things that our partners and community always ask us about is "How do I get my application certified with HCP by Hitachi?"

This document should guide you on how to accomplish that or at the very least, point you in the right direction.

There are 5 main steps in becoming certified with HCP:

1.  Determine which RESTful interface you want to integrate against HCP

    • HCP REST (Hitachi version of a RESTful interface)
    • HCP HS3 (Amazon S3 API)

2.  Access the software and documentation to integrate

3.  Download the appropriate documentation and testing plans

4.  Conduct the certification test

5.  Validate your testing results

STEP 1.  Determine which RESTful interface you will be using for the integration
You have the option to integrate with HCP either via the Hitachi version of REST or the Amazon S3 version of REST.  Which one is the best one for you?

Here is a high level summary:

Reasons to use HCP REST API

  • Need to manage Object Compliance (e.g. Retention)
  • Need to use advanced Custom Metadata features
    • Robust Custom Metadata layout (fully structured XML)
    • Annotations
  • User-defined hash (non-MD5)
  • WAN Efficiencies - Whole Object I/O or Compression
  • Advanced object lifecycle (purge, shredding, indexing)

Reasons to use Amazon S3-compatible HS3 REST API

  • Application compatibility
  • Pre-signed URLs (object sharing URL with expiration date)
  • Object tagging (HTTP header alternative to Custom Metadata)

STEP 2.  Access the software and documentation to integrate

  • Visit Hitachi Alliance Partner Program site: Partner Connect
  • Download HCP VM software (if testing with HCP REST API) from the Partner portal

STEP 3.  Download the documentation and test plans

STEP 4.  Conduct the certification test

STEP 5.  Have your tests results validated by the HCP Product Teams

  • Once the test is completed, fill out the validation brief and send it to:
  • Once we receive your email, we will initiate our review of your testing results. Normal turnaround time is 3-5 business days.
