VMware users can align IT with business processes through their VMware vCenter Operations Manager (vCOPs), coupled with Hitachi Unified Compute platform for VMware vSphere and its Unified Compute Platform Director software. This converged-infrastructure management platform centralizes and automates the management of all of the hardware elements in VMware vSphere through a single pane of glass. It provides deepinsightsinto the health, risk, and efficiency for each of the converged elements within vCenter Operations Manager (vCOPs) and integrates the management of physical and virtual layers to significantly reduce mean time to resolution & operational costs – across a singleor multiple data centers.
While other converged solutions like VCE Vblock provide support for vCOPs and have similar functionality, the Hitachi approach to integration is different. The Hitachi approach is a “native” one where we plug into vCenter and naturally extend to vCOPs from inside VMware. VCE provides a vCOPs plugin that links to CISCO and EMC tools for the data that it requires for a push pull. This approach gets the job done but requires more knobs and levers. This “native” approach from Hitachi also enables us to work with vCAC (vCloud Automation Center) for overall cloud management without the need for a plugin like other vendors do. This “native” approach, working from within vCenter makes Business Define IT much simpler to implement.
VMware vCOPs and Hitachi UCP Director work together to provide a centralized and efficient way to improve your IT operations. The UCP with vCOPs presents out-of-the-box dashboards for storage, networking, and other domains, and lets you drill down to specific systems elements in just a few clicks. Along the way UCP Director captures the trends for operational and performance metrics identified in vCOPs, for immediate and complete health, risk, and efficiency reporting without the need to switch to another tool.
